Ironstone
Concours 2004
by Bill & Skip Pugh
It was a cool, cloudy day for the Ironstone Concours,
a few Brave Souls got up early and made it to Wallace for Coffee
and Crossiants. Jim Messineo, Ken and Charlene Pinkerman, Tom
and Marge Fennessey (late as usual) ... <G>. We had a
nice uneventful trip up to Murphys, it was a little chilly for
the hard core top down crews, but we all made it in time.
Ironstone outdid itself this year, the Buffet
was Beef Bourgoine (siq) and Mushroom Chicken, absolutely delicious,
how they can cook such good stuff for so many folks is amazing
to me. The Cars were fabulous, from very rare antique brass
cars to fairly modern muscle cars. The featured marques were
Ford and Rolls Royce, a little strange combination, but who
cares??
Many thanks to the Ironstone organizers they split
the classes into makes Triumph, Austin-Healey, MG, others...
we did not get a report from the Healy group, but in the Triumph
group First place went to Gordon Temple (and rightfully so),
Second place went to Ron Conley and his very original, immaculate
1959 TR3A, Third place was captured by Jackie Temple (we heard
there had been some ownership switching going on, so Jackie
may claim 1st place for herself ... <G>)
No Chicken offenses that we know of, it was interesting
however to note the anguish on Jim Messineo's face when his
TR3A failed to engage the starter while positioning his car,
this was replaced by a huge grin of relief when the car started
and the end of the Concours, unfortunately Jim received no help
and cannot be saddled with the chicken ... "darn"
